Automatic Device Discovery

Criston Precision introduces an auto-discovery feature for each agent to automatically create a network topology overview. To ensure successful security and systems management, it is necessary to know where the clients are at all times and how to reach them.

Hardware Inventory

Criston Precision automatically tracks hardware elements through close integration with the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) and system libraries.

Software Inventory

Criston Precision provides highly detailed software inventory by collecting and reporting data via several discovery channels. Software inventory is collected from different sources based on the client platform and user needs (RPM on Linux, Microsoft Software Installer or registry on Windows, executable file scanning). The software inventory can also be customized based on searches for predefined file characteristics.

Custom Inventory

Custom inventory enables administrators to specify additional data fields that can be updated through import, directly edited from the console, or uploaded through a form sent to users (Name, Location, Department, etc).

Security Inventory

A dedicated security inventory gathers specific data on security settings such as installed antivirus or Windows Update status, shared resources etc.

Inventory History

Inventory data integration is optimized with the agents uploading changes since last inventory. Changes in inventory since last update can be listed for automatic configuration change tracking.

Inventory Filters

As the reporting of inventory data can be relatively complicated, Criston Precision integrates XML-based filters capable of “cleaning” the inventory data to ensure consistency and to clear any unwanted inventory information. It is possible to graphically edit multiple filter configurations for hardware and software inventory. Filters can be assigned to individual clients or automatically distributed to device groups.
