Applications Management

Securing IT starts by managing IT

Challenges

Instant Messaging, peer-to-peer software, or games are not olnly likely to contain malicious code but can also disrupt business operations or steal confidential information.

- Measure real applications usage for licence purchase plans
- Control autorised/unauthorised applications
- Ensure mission critical applications stability

Applications Management

Criston Solutions

The Precision Agent can monitor when an application is installed or launched on any managed device and thus measure real usage of applications, for licence metering, or block unauthorised application. This helps enforcing software license compliance, Sarbanes Oxley, HIPAA and many other regulatory requirements. Additionally, application self-healing automatically rebuilds an application if an abnormal event occurs.

Prohibited Applications

Criston Precision can prevent certain applications from running. Administrators define backlists or whitelists of applications by either selecting an application profile in the software inventory or manually entering application signature (name, version or other fields). Policies are then deployed automatically to devices or groups of devices and the agents will stop any process that is recognized as unauthorized.

Desktop Management

- Direct addition of software signature from inventory
- Possibility to assign different policies to different types of devices
- Active even if executable filename was changed
- Reports available to analyze the history of forbidden applications launch (by user, device, application etc)

Monitored Applications

Application monitoring provides Criston Precision administrators with direct visibility on installed applications and enables correlation based on the following categories: purchased software/installed software/used software. The Criston Precision agent logs application usage metering on both online and offline devices.

- Lowers cost of software licenses and maintenance
- Allows control over application usage

Protected Applications

Criston Precision’s self-healing technology proactively detects unintentional application, file and configuration changes and automatically corrects errors on client systems so that end-user service quality is maintained and a significant reduction in IT and help-desk support is achieved.

- Peer download
- Automatically restores applications even if the device is not connected to the network
